Discipline - Once & Forever

This blog is dedicated to Shubham, a friend of mine who suggested the topic. Thank you so much for bringing forth such an important point to write on.

We all are taught to be disciplined since childhood, in schools discipline is instilled when we get punished for our mistakes & under extreme tension to submit homework the next day. In life though discipline slips out of our grip because we learn manipulations, excuses & telling lies to avoid all the hard work. Only when we have ramifications we understand the importance of discipline. This blog will shed light on this topic more briefly.

Introduction
Discipline is not & rather shouldn't be a habit or some kind of protocol to be followed instead it must be an instinct & one shouldn't fail to practice it.
But this is easier said than done because it requires a headstrong decision to act upon & stick by it no matter what. Many people decide to be disciplined but are hardly able to maintain it for a longer time period thats due to the temptations around them are too irresistible & ultimately they fall prey to it.
One can stop this if they want to , how ? Lets find out.

Importance of Discipline
The importance of discipline is something which is beyond words to express as people lacking discipline in their life suffer major consequences be it on professional or personal front.

Discipline makes you punctual which manages your time & saves you from any unwanted efforts to complete a task. It also makes a person responsible & accountable for his / her actions & what they speak. You learn to become a better version of yourself when you are disciplined because you know your capacity in the best possible way.

In daily life on professional front you never need to hear complaints from anyone if you have a disciplined approach in your work. It also teaches you make better commitments & also only those commitments which you know you can keep. It instills practicality in you & thats why you have a better thinking with much more clarity & least ambiguity.
When you are disciplined your children automatically learn from you & there is no fuss in inculcating good manners. They follow you very simply so make sure you are correct before you tell them that they are wrong.

Application ; Simplified
Now most of us master instilling discipline but the real test comes when we have to maintain it for a longer period of time rather lifelong. Many of us just fall prey to the old lifestyle of shortcuts & manipulations which is easier. But one must always remember that only way to maintain discipline lifelong is being disciplined itself.
That means the sheer devotion to not step back from your decision no matter what happens can carve your way towards the goal of remaining disciplined lifelong.
Lets see a few key points that can help to simplify the process.

• Be absolutely determined to stay disciplined no matter what.

• Start with baby steps, handle simpler tasks first which don't take alot of effort to be disciplined.

• Be strict with yourself but not cruel, keep distractions at bay by choice not like a punishment.

• Set alarms, reminders & make a schedule to be followed strictly.

• Prioritise your work & assign the time to be dedicated accordingly.

• Never skip out alloting time to relax, pursuing your hobbies, lunch, rest etc.

• Accept the routine as an enjoyment or new adventure in your life not as a burden.

• Once this pays off you will automatically get motivated to stick by it.

• Never give up, the change won't be overnight give the necessary time & efforts & you will surely get the results.
