Flawless skin : Tips & Tricks !!

 We all want flawless skin free of blemishes, acne, pimples etc, but its not always easy to get the flawless skin we dream of, I will share some tips & tricks with you via this blog which I apply on myself to make my skin as flawless as possible.

Genetics

First & foremost the tips I will be sharing with you may or may not work on everyone because the texture, nature & characteristics of our skin are largely inherited that is genetics plays a huge role in determining how an individual's skin would be.

While some people have a normal skin whereas others have too dry or too oily skin, sometimes there is combination skin type for e.g dry & oily keeping this in mind I will suggest few things that can be done for skin wellness irrespective of your skin type.

Hydration

We all know the importance of hydration for our entire body to function properly.

Drinking 2 - 3 litres of water everyday can really help to maintain good quality of skin with minimal problems.

Also proper hydration keeps the skin clean.

Natural facepacks

We all swear by facepacks, masks & zillions of skin creams available in the market for skincare, yes they are effective to an extent but we sometimes forget that natural ingredients available at home can give same results with a lot lesser cost to be paid.

We all enjoy eating fruits like watermelon, muskmelon, papayas etc. we also tend to throw away the peels of these fruits just without giving it a thought that its a magic potion for skin.

Next time make sure before you discard the peels of these fruits puncture them with a knife and rub the peel all over your face, let it dry completely & wash your face with water the skin feels soft, supple, glowing, instantly 

These juices have a soothing quality to them & its best applied in natural form than to use an extract of it which is treated & processed.

Papaya has vitamin A which gives youthful look to skin, also it maintains tone of the skin

Watermelon & muskmelon play a role in hydrating the skin giving it a supple smooth finish.

Tanning!!

Anyone who has experienced tanning & sunburns knows how the skin feels during that time.

Its dry, flaky, completely un-nourished & pathetic to look at 

We do have tan removal scrubs & creams in market but the best remedy is right in our kitchen!

Potatoes & Tomatoes 

Yes, cut a potato in half & rub it on your tanned & sunburnt skin it works! 

Also applying tomato pulp, juice & rubbing cut tomato on skin visibly lightens & soothes the skin.

The starch in potato & lycopene in tomato works on the skin to show desired effects.

Though these things don't give instant miraculous results but they are equally potent.

Diet

The area where most of us cheat & its hard to keep up with healthy eating for a consistent period. We all should eat what we wish to but everything in moderation is never bad.

For a healthy flawless skin diet can vary depending on skin type. General diet must include a balanced proportion of all the necssary nutrients required for the body.

Oily skin

Eat more:

1. Salads include cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, greens in your diet.

2. Fruits with high water content like watermelon, muskmelon, bananas etc

3. Citrus fruits like oranges, sweetlime

4. Fruits with anti oxidants & those who belong to berry family like strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, grapes etc

Eat less

1. Junk food

2. Food with high fat & oil content like deep fried food 

3. Very very spicy food, I am a spicy food eater but levels of spice should be in moderation.

4. Foods that trigger acidity.

Dry skin 

People with dry skin should also follow a diet suggested for people with oily skin in the eat more section.

Apart from that people with dry skin can use pulp of fresh aloe vera leaf & apply it on skin to ensure extra hydration & moisturisation.

Try to limit the use of talcum powders & compact powders frequently which may result in more dryness instead use moisturizing creams & lotions to give the skin that extra touch of moisture.

Also vitamin enriched skin capsules , oils can be used too.

Normal skin

The challenge for people with normal skin is to maintain it at normal level. Any disbalance in the routine care & the skin characteristics can shift to any extreme from oily to dry.

To maintain the normal skin as it is make sure the diet habits, lifestyle patterns are as consistent as possible for a very long duration.

Hydrate well, eat well & stay well can be the motto for people with normal skin.

Time is the key !

Apart from maintaining a good diet its very very crucial to maintain the time too.

It must be a routine & should be followed stringently to achieve healthy skin.

Everyday an individual should eat, sleep, wake up at the same time & this should be consistent it must become a lifestyle pattern to eat on time & eat healthy.

What is bad ?

1. Midnight snacking

2. Untimely eating

3. No routine at all in eating pattern

4. Unhealthy junk food 

5. Food with high sodium content

6. Food with high sugar content

The above list of don'ts says that indulgences are not bad but they should not be the lifestyle.

Mental health

The final & most crucial factor in maintaining a great skin is a healthy happy state of mind! Yes I know it sounds completely irrelevant but trust me I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to feel good in order to look good.

What you are inside shows outside.

Major causes

1. Stress

Any type of stress be it related to work or personal shows on your skin, hyperstress causes acid levels in stomach to rise leading to hyperacidity & causing inflammation not only inside the body but visible outside in form of pimples, acne etc.

To maintain calm , happy state of mind do what you love , indulge in your hobbies, talk to friends, spend quality time with family,friends, spouse etc., take a walk, watch your favourite stuff & believe me there is always time to do these things so I don't have the time! is an excuse we give to ourselves.

2 Lack of sleep

7 -9 hrs of sound sleep is a must for overall health & we all deserve it.

Sleep problems & staying up late at night causes a truckload of imbalances in the human body starting from acidity to something severe like PCOD.

Make sure you get the sleep you deserve.

3 Improper hygiene

Skin should be clean in order to be healthy.

Washing the skin with water, facewash or using a scrub helps to exfoliate & clean the skin 

This helps to reduce bacterial growth & reduces pimples, acne , rashes etc.

4 Hormonal health

Make sure you keep all your hormones in balance in order to keep a flawless looking skin.

Hormones regulate body processes & any imbalance can cause the repercussions to be visible on skin.

To maintain a sound hormonal health you need to maintain healthy diet & sleep patterns.
