Makeup - Easy to do guide
Diamonds are girl's best friend & so is makeup! We all love getting our makeup done be it for work, party, date, wedding or any ceremony.
This blog will provide an easy to do guide & tips on how to do makeup not just to create a funky look but to enhance your natural beauty.
Drug store & Long wear makeup
Alot of the times makeup products are recognized all as same under one roof, that is not the case though. Makeup products basically get divided into 2 broad categories
• Drug store makeup
• Drug store makeup products are the ones which are available at the local pharmacy shops.
• These products are meant for daily use just like regular talc powder. The category includes foundations, compacts ,skin creams, lipsticks, kajal/ kohl, eyepencils, eyeliners all meant for regular use, so they are not very long lasting but perfect for a 9 to 5 routine.
• These products emphasize more on skin care aspect than cosmetic aspect.
• They are relatively affordable & pocket friendly ,also they are perfect for makeup on the go, touch ups & for working women who need to apply makeup on a daily basis for e.g air hostesses, women in corporate sectors, women working in luxury hotels etc.
• Long wear makeup
• Long wear makeup products are something which we need to buy either from the exclusive brand outlets or a cosmetic store.
• These products are expensive depending on which brand you prefer.
• Also they are very long lasting ,almost they stay for entire day, they clog the skin pores which makes them longer lasting.
• They are meant to be used for makeup on big ceremonies like weddings, photoshoots, parties etc where once you apply makeup you need not touch up at all.
• They have a property to set on the skin rather than just enhancing the appearance like drug store makeup.
Easy Guide
Doing makeup is not at all a knackering task as it may seem rather its the opposite, it just takes a little planning & exact knowledge of do's & don'ts ! Lets make it convenient by dividing makeup in 2 segments
• Formal Makeup
The most essential thing about formal makeup is it should be invisible. People shouldn't be able to notice that you are wearing makeup
Choose your best feature - eyes, lips , jawline, cheeks etc & just remember you have to enhance its appearance.
1. Start with light coat of foundation, skip it if you don't need it.
2. Brush just a little compact or loose powder where you get oily the most.
3. Choose a blush that literally matches your natural cheek colour & apply it very subtly. Make sure its a matte finish blush as it appears more natural.
4. Eye shadow can be skipped but if you must apply one then choose the shade closest to the colour of your eye socket. Prefer matte finish or subtle shimmer.
5. Eyeliner should be as close to lashline as possible without a wing or a bold line. Mascara can be a single coat if you must.
6. Try to get a lipstick which is closest to your natural lip colour or blend 2 shades.I personally prefer lip balm for formal looks.
• Festive or Ceremony Makeup
Over here you have the liberty to experiment with new looks, play with colours, & go bold with alot of glitter. But thats why many a times makeup goes overboard & spoils the look completely. Choosing the best feature helps here too & also here concentrate on only 1 feature.
Here are the following things to be kept in mind while doing a ceremonial makeup
1. Highlight only 1 feature that is if you decide to do a bold eye makeup wear a neutral lipstick &minimal blush.
2. If you go bold on lips keep the eye make up subtle & pick a complementing shade of blush to the lipstck.
3. Also with bold lips the foundation needs to be very even & high coverage so you don't need to touch up frequently & lip colour pops out.
There are 2 main aspects which play a crucial role in deciding your makeup look.
Day
• Primer - primer is essential to keep the makeup in place during day time as oil & perspiration can crack the foundation & concealer.
• Foundation - use a foundation that is long lasting with good coverage so you don't need to worry about your makeup getting wiped off due to oil & perspiration.
• Compact- don't shy away from compact during day time because it helps to set the foundation & mattify the areas which shouldn't shine.
• Blush - keep it noticable but don't end up with joker cheeks! It should appear just like a healthy pink glow on the face.
• Eyes - try to avoid dark smokey eyes in day time , but if you must then choose a shade of brown to soften the appearance. Generally neutral eyes work best during day time.
• Lips - you can either go bold or neutral on lipsticks during day time. I personally suggest going bold on lips during day as it helps the colour pop better.
Night
• For the night time makeup basically steps are same for primer, foundation & blush.
• Compact - avoid compact completely if you can or use it minimally at night time because there is lesser chance of perspiration & oiliness at night, so powder just where you want to avoid shine.
• Eyes - dark smokey eyes really make night look come alive, so have fun with eye shadows , use shimmer, glitters & create various looks.
• Lips- if you decide bold lips at night time choose the shades from red, berry colours , browns , maroons & burgundy family they look really great. Otherwise keep lips neutral & let eyes do the talking!!
• Highlighter - at night absence of sunlight creates a need for addition of some sheen to the skin, as night time makeup allows little extra shimmer choose a complementing highlighter & shine like a star!
NOTE - The use of primer, foundation & compact can vary according to your skin type so make sure you go heavy or light on them as per what suits your skin.
Do use a setting spray to set makeup effectively.

I couldn't agree more! I think this blog gives a complete brief of what & how makeup has to be used. Makeup is definitely something to play with and how smartly it's been used only that counts. Since, there is a fine line between being sober or getting it overly done. Otherwise, just be yourself and embrace whet you are with the help of makeup with sobriety!
