Bags & Shoes : The Essentials
We cannot step out without Bags & Shoes ! Be it work, gym ,party, hangout we need to have proper bag & pair of shoes on. This blog will explore why bags & shoes are the essentials in our life.
Introduction
The first reason why bags & shoes are the essentials for us is that they just prove as a precise utility product for us. Example - a festive bag cannot handle the load of your office documents , you absolutely need a briefcase.
Another reason why bags & shoes are essentials is because they complete our look. Now imagine yourself dressed up for work in crisp formals with a grocery bag in hand & flip flops in feet, its an utter disaster ! Thats why we need right bags & shoes to go with right kind of occasion & respective attire.
• Bags
• Gentlemen
Mostly men wonder why women are crazy about bags & shoes but that doesn't mean they have limited choices. Men have as much as room for experiment as women when the topic is about bags & shoes.
1. Gentlemen can mainly focus on the briefcases which these days are greatly compact, lightweight & stylish enough to carry for work.
2. If you are someone who likes to keep hands free then go for sling strapped formal briefcases , just put them around the shoulder & you are good to go.
3. If you need to carry lot of stuff in your bag & worry about the bag looking like a bean bag then use a box shaped briefcase that will allow more space to fit in your whole world.
• Ladies
As far as ladies are concerned we never stop on the collection on bags & shoes. We have endless options & yet find nothing suitable to wear & carry on the given moment , yes count me too in that ! For ladies, the bags & shoes need to change their styles according to occasions divided in 2 broad categories.
• Formal
1. For a formal routine, ladies may prefer a small briefcase which is light & handy to carry. Make sure its a nuetral colour black, brown etc.
2. On the days when you don't have much to carry with you , use a mini handbag which will keep things in place & yet look elegant. This can also be in a matching shade to your outfit.
3. If you carry your entire world with you then there is nothing like a big formal tote bag which takes it all & can be carried pretty easily. Just make sure its not too gothic, bodly coloured & over stylized.
• Festive
Ladies have alot of options while choosing festive bags. Its not only about colours but also about vast array of styles that bags are available in , its quite simple to choose the appropriate one if you have a clear perception on what you want.
Here are few choices for ladies to choose from :-
• Clutches - Its my personal favourite for any occasion. They are handy, slick, elegant & yet allow the room to fit in alot of things. Also they come in uncountable patterns & colours which makes finding a match easier. Tip - Prefer carrying glittery / blingy clutches especially at night time.
• Handbags - This is an option for those who carry alot of stuff in their bags. Sometimes even occasion calls for it. So prefer a mini sized handbag which is well embellished to make it just right for festive season.
• Totes - Now this is the one to carry your whole world in it !! Totes are super big which means you can be the only person to carry your stuff & also of those who are with you in one bag. I don't recommend these as first choice because it gets too tedious to carry them in festive time. But they are of great help especially if you are new mom carrying your baby with you.
• Potlis - This is one of the most ethnic choices to carry in a festive time. They are available in a great range of designs, colours, embroideries which makes them suitable for any Indian ethnic outfit. Also they are flexible to fit everything right from a lipstick to a mobile phone.
NOTE - A potli bag is made from satin or velvet cloth with a drawstring attached to it which when pulled closes the bag to form a shape of coin bag.
• Shoes
• Gentlemen /Formal
For formal wear gentlemen may prefer shoes that are exclusive leather, neutral in colour that is mainly black or brown & which are not too stylised but yet elegant & classy in appearance. Following characteristics are to be kept in mind while choosing formal shoes.
1. Colour - Make sure they are either black or brown. Shades in brown can be varied but try sticking to the darker side of the palette. Also the colour of your shoes must match the colour of your belt.
2. Look - The shoes should have a classy, sheek & elegant appearance. Try to avoid shoes with printed designs of snakes or scorpions on it, or cowboy style shoes. Prefer comfortable pure leather shoes which support your feet well & help to maintain proper posture.
3. Heels - Formal shoes should have minimal regular heel. Try to avoid high heel shoes they will make you uncomfortable at the end of the day. Heel should be just enough to support your entire weight on your feet.
4. Shine - What's a formal shoe without shine ? Keep it mirror shining. The first thing to be noticed in a gentleman's attire is his shoes!! Pay attention on it & don't shy away from little extra polish.
• Gentlemen / Festive
For festive wear you can experiment with your shoes according to your attire & overall look. But if you include a belt in your attire make sure to match it with shoes.
Few pointers for choosing festive shoes are :-
1. You can choose over a slightly wide range of colour palette.
2. You can wear shoes with different styles & appearances.
3. You can prefer high heeled shoes , also the ones with extra pointed tips & patterns , design prints etc.
4. If you choose to wear an ethnic outfit like a chudidar - kurta or sherwani you can opt for suitable ethnic shoes or even traditional footwear.
5. You can also experiment a casual festive look with high ankle shoes.
• Ladies / Formal
Be it formal or festive we ladies can't escape heels ! No matter how uncomfortable they are but without heels there is nothing. The one thing that can be done though is putting a restriction on the height of your heels as far as formal shoes are concerned. Few tips below will help you to get more clarity on the subject
• Colour - Make sure they are black or nude coloured shoes. They go well with all types of formal attire irrespective of the colour. You can choose brown but try to avoid lighter shades & ensure that it compliments your attire.
• Style - You have a vast number of styles to pick from but for formal wear try to stick by the few mentioned below.
1. Pumps - They are my personal favourite & highly recommended choice for formal wear. Nothing like pumps makes your office look complete
2. Wedges / Box heels - Prefer these when you have minimal walking & climbing stairs. They support your feet very well while giving you the pleasure of wearing high heels but on the down side you are prone to get your ankles twisted & maybe even a nasty fall on a bad day. So be careful.
3. Stilletos - Yes go for it , but ensure the heel is not too thin. It should have a substantious strength to support your entire body weight while standing , walking & also should be comfortable on your feet.
4. Kitten heels - Highly recommend them. They are best for beginners who have just stepped into the world of high heeled shoes. Very comfy for walking & standing for long hours. Prefer pumps instead of sandals in kitten heels.
• Heels - More than style of the heels , height of the heels is a crucial aspect of formal shoes. Make sure the heels don't go beyond 2.5 to 3 inches for comfort & safety levels. Its best to keep your feet as close to ground as possible with giving it just a necessary amount of lift.
• Ladies / Festive
For festive time ladies can probably start days or even months prior to decide what is to be worn ! I do it !. During the choice of festive shoes extreme attention is to be paid on footwear as it can make or break your entire look. Few pointers given below can help in choosing the right style of shoes.
1. Pumps - If you decide to wear pumps for a festive season make sure you prefer a bright coloured pair to match with your outfit. Also you can let the shoes be your statement piece in the look, pair brightly coloured pumps with a neutral coloured dress. The colour of your shoes must match the colour of your bag , belt or lipstick.
2. Stilletos - Now don't shy away from height. Its your time to flaunt your best, so go ahead & wear stilletos with heels ranging from 3 to 4.5 inches. Make sure you are well habituated to wear such shoes. If your outfit is dark coloured pair it with gold, silver , champagne or rose gold coloured stilleto sandals & you will rock the party. Also vibrant colours look really eye catching. They can also be paired with ethnic outfits.
3. Wedges / Box heels - They give you a great lift & also support you while standing, walking & dancing too. Make sure your wedges are stylish, patterned & sexy in appearance. Pair it with short dresses , short skirts etc so you can flaunt long legs !
So the next time you step out for work or a party I hope you look your best & stun everyone around you with your looks.

Very well put. I appreciate you briefing the great number of options equally for men as well. For womens, even the choices have more choice in it. My personal favourite is pumps but most comfort comes with the wedges even with the highest of the height should be easy to carry it. With bags, brands like baggit is not so sheek but few brands like Hidesign, Charles & Keith, Lino perros brings elegance to the table & Esbeda bags got more funk to it in a good way.
